Kennon Logistics Is Off to a Rough Start
My niece and nephew were over at the house a couple of days ago and I ended up playing Eurotruck Simulator 2 with them as I had picked it up during one of the past Steam sales. In it, you want to start a freight company but you have no money so you take driving jobs. As you amass capital, you establish your own trucking business, setup a headquarters, acquire new equipment, and increase profits. You can even program your radio to play your own mp3 files.
While in the real world, I haven’t been in an accident in 10+ years, let’s just say Kennon Logistics is off to a rough start. On a single short-haul trip, I managed to damage the engine, get three €400 fines for traffic disasters, run several red lights, flip on a median, and arrive 5+ hours late. Unfortunately, there is no option to provide the capital then hire other drivers, I have to earn it myself first. Despite the challenges, I find the game relaxing.
I might have to get an Oculus Rift and steering wheel control pad. Eurotruck Simulator 2 has a mode you can enable to view in virtual reality.
There could be a nostalgia thing going on, too. I remember playing a Commodore 64 version of something similar with my Aunt Donna when I was a little boy, only you had to pick up fruits and vegetables to deliver to your customers. It was called Time Trucker. The graphics have come a long way since then.
I might have to go looking for a good Commodore 64 emulator today and get my hands on a copy of the old game.
